This Bride Loves Blankets

I recently got engaged to the man of my dreams in August! When I started to think about gifts for my lovely 6 bridesmaids, I thought of course a beautiful blanket to remember the occasion and show my gratitude for their support. 6 blankets in 7 months! Think I can do it?!

As the type of person who tends to take on more than I should... I decided to start with a stripey blanket for my maid of honor. It is the same pattern from Not Your Average Crochet that I have done before except I changed out the Catherine Wheel for the roses pattern from the Fantasy Blanket.

I just love those little roses!!

I have worked so much on this blanket this week, it is seeming VERY possible to complete this mission. This blog will follow my journey of picking colors and patterns to match the personality and style of each of my special bridesmaids. My maid of honor is very girlie and likes bright, pretty colors so I am hoping that she will LOVE this blanket!
I am so excited with how long it is getting and how beautiful the colors are working out! When I chose the colors, my mom helped me to try to stay with similar bright colors- none too light or too dark. I think that it is working out as the best blanket I have ever made! Let's hope I can keep up this quick pace when I have to go back to work tomorrow...

Happy Sunday! :)

Finding true love...

When I was little my Bubby and my mom taught me how to crochet. It has always been my dream to live up to making creations as beautiful as theirs! Since elementary school knitting and crocheting has always been a relaxing hobby for me to make hats, scarves, and blankets. However, crochet holds a special place in my heart as my favorite!

A couple years ago my mom inspired me to push myself out of my comfort zone of standard stitches to try a stripey blanket! It took me almost a year with starting and stopping every couple months but I finished it!
Yay!! All done!

This made me fall in love with crocheting on a new level or creativity! I loved picking out the color combinations and changing up the stitch type. This was a pattern from Not Your Average Crochet.

A friend of mine was pregnant with twins last winter and my mom proposed a brilliant idea! We decided that I would make a baby girl stripey blanket and she would make a baby boy one! This blanket was a fun journey knowing that it would keep a beautiful baby girl warm! The pattern is Fantasy Blanket. Here is the finished product:

I knew that this wouldn't be the last stripey blanket I would ever make but I also did not know when the next one would be!
